The Talent
It was a hot Friday afternoon as I rode
up Mt Tam to our photo shoot. Yep, I was lucky enough to be invited to get my mug taken as a cyclist. At the Rock Springs parking lot I was greeted by a full on production set.
A huge RV was camped out, canopies everywhere, racks of wardrobe, production crew and assistants, the Director of course, and some ladies pointing the finger at my chest saying my jersey was not acceptable for the shoot.
I was floored about what I rolled into. Nonetheless I assured wardrobe I had another non-descript jersey in my backpack, no problem.
During the shoot, the CHP blocked traffic as we rode back and forth around the Seven Sisters. The four of us rode in formation as the photographers blasted us with their rapid fire telephoto lenses shouting things like beautiful, you look great, and fabulous. But my favorite? The director would refer to us as "the Talent", asking via walkie talkie communicators if "The Talent" were on their marks and ready.
So with the sun setting against the Pacific Ocean at the bottom of the Sleeping Lady's slopes, The Talent was ready. Give us your best shot.
