The Art of Cycling for the Spin of it

Yesterday evening I had the chance for a dirt roll with my son. It was full of father son bonding moments. Not once did we worry about bpm, or someone faster than us. Instead we smiled as we rode away from the heavy traffic crawling through the Novato narrows.

This morning however, you are reminded there's always someone faster, lighter, etc than you on the bike.  And when you get the chance to ride with someone like that
it's awesome. Jon  does Ironmans so when our phenom Jeff says "man I don't even think his bpm ever went up", you know we were red-lining. And that is what Strava reminded me. My effort was categorized as "tough" as I set myself some new personal records climbing out of Muir Beach. Jon? A walk in the park for him. Not even sure it registered for any category on Strava which makes me laugh. Luckily Jon doesn't rub it in, and takes it all in stride.

Just the same I love these days. I started off in the dark solo from Novato. Met up with Bryan in San Rafael as we eventually met up with the others at Peets.

But there's always someone you forget as well. I don't have a distribution list saved so I forgot to invite some friends. Luckily Jenn found out and joined us part way. So to my buddies that I forget, my apologies for I'm not perfect. And you are always welcome on any of the rides I pretend to organize. For all the solo riding I do, the best part always comes down to riding with my buddies whenever possible. Those are the moments that we remember.
