I've Gone and Done it
A group selfie of us commuting while seated on the ferry just isn't the same. The thought of course occurred to me but no, not happening.
Arriving early for the ferry this morning, bikes apparently get The Disnelyland fast pass treatment. We get cuts and get to board first. Not only do I get the best bike parking, but first shot at seating downstairs. I'm the envy of ferry commuters everywhere.
Here I met the soccer dads Joe and Chris for tasteless conversations that usually involve subtle politically incorrect humor (apolgies to our wives ahead of time) and the latest talent spotted on the air. I'll leave it at that.
But I'm not here to tell you about my misbehaving ways. I haven't ridden my bike for three weeks. I'm rested, I'm 90% healed from my plaguing heel injury and I've gone and done it. I signed up for Levi's Granfondo. 103 miles with a side of 8-9,00 feet of elevation. I'm about as far away as ready as possible but I'm shooting for the moon. I predict in the next month I will shed 10 pounds and ride over 500 miles before Oct 4th, the day of the event. So if you've missed my cycling stories I'm here to tell you there will be plenty to write about. Next Monday my training begins. I may even add a ferry commute in to mix it up.
