Frozen Feet Despite Increased Temps

Removing my cleats, I realized I had no sensation below the ankles. I walked across the corporate garage dragging my lifeless frozen feet one step at a time. A slight twinge of pain was my only clue that it was time to take the next step. It wasn't supposed to be this way. I wore my spring gear as the temps had recently risen in the Bay Area. No ice covered light houses, or moving sheathes of ice here, just another great day to ride. Yes, as I peeled away from the other twelve Marin riders this morning (the infamous Raiders), I reduced my velocity  immediately. And that I believe was my downfall. Cycling keeps you warm as you exert effort. But today was my longest ride back of the year. A thirty miler when I'm barely ready for 25. Nonetheless, I knew I could do it. I just didn't count on my extremities being cold since my cadence was tough to detect. You may think I'm softening up. I would counter that by the end of today I'll have ridden half a century. No blood transfusions necessary. All I need now are some heated socks. Don't judge.
