After watching my daughter's soccer team have a successful showing at the Halloween Tournament I also saw a team full of smiles. If I can just can all the fun with kids sports and channel it back to my cycling I'd be in the money. The photo shows how I feel as a coach and a parent watching my kids play sports. I feel on top of the world basically.
Being prepared for the challenges and keeping it fun is what it's all about. This cycling year has been anything but being prepared. Sure, I've ridden more this year than any other year prior. I have destroyed poor unsuspecting commuters who think they can hang with me. I've ridden with the alphas in my group during a century and have hung with them the entire ride. I'm quite proud of what I've done. But inside there is something missing. There is always something more to desire. I'm not trying be greedy but I know where my top form is. It's hiding behind a strict diet and stretching program, and planned training to match.
I'm talking of the nirvana cycling triangle. When I get there by summer of 2014, you will see a simlar photo. Only this time from the top of My Tam. And I won't need to hide my form behind the silhouette of shadows and camera tricks.
I need to chase this. I want to chase this. So as I log on to myfitnesspal and feel repelled by how many calories my latte really is, I'm planning my next basketball practice. Today will be competition day. I'll tell them if you beat coach at free throws by end of season Ill throw them a pizza party. Everyone needs a goal to chase after. Regardless of who wins I'll take the veggie slice please. Ignore my tears as the pepperoni disappears.
