Top Dog, it's Not Too Late

Being sidelined by injury let's you reflect on what you are missing out on. For example, I miss taking my dog out for a walk. Ike was quite happy today as I walked him around the neighborhood. During our excursion, tennis kept tapping in my head. And don't get me started on running. And if I'm running and playing tennis, well basketball isn't that far away either.

I've always felt I should be one of those commuters who runs to work across the Golden Gate Bridge once in a while.So if I ever channel a change of energy in that direction, you can bet I'll write about it. But the thing I miss the most is breathing a full breath without pain. Having what I call a mild case of asthma (hardly ever affected anymore), I appreciate a full breath of non restricted air. Part of the reason I ride so much is to keep my lungs healthy. Dr. told me once, when I was sick...that the volume of air I could displace as a sick asthamatic was better than even most healthy average men. That struck a chord of course, which reminds me. I also miss writing and playing music.

So what does that mean for the rest of 2013?
Time to hang up the cleats and retire? Well, I'm hundreds of miles back...maybe even closing in on 1,000 miles back before I'm really back in the game against Wheel Destroyer. You can bet I miss the challenge. I have 5 months to go to not only catch but surpass him. If you're looking to root for an underdog, I'm your cause. And for those of you following the bet I'm sure I've tortured you enough, though not as bad as perhaps the SF Giants as of late. I'll start reporting the differences in my posts to keep you updated, but mostly to keep me accountable. Public scrutiny does wonders for motivation.

Destroyer = 4,808 miles
Mo Miles = 4,314 miles
