A Fresh Perspective

I showed my dad this photo and his eyes lit up. He immediately recognized California Street, and how great it was that I captured the cable car. You see, back in the day my father worked in the city for years. I'm simply walking the town, the same way he did years ago in another time. By the way if you look real close, there's a cyclist headed towards us in the background.
Going back in 2014 is what I've done as well. I rode with Matt today. No silly divisive bet in the way. Just riding as friends off to Ocean Beach in the opposite direction of downtown San Francisco entirely. Just like we did in 2012.

But not living entirely in the past I had the chance to mix up my afternoon commute. I had an unexpected dental appointment this afternoon, and soon realized how I could spin this in my favor. I decided to do my morning Ocean Beach route in the opposite direction. Was it great? Not really. Was it different, you bet. I also made myself proud as I climbed up out of the steep ascent towards the Golden Gate bridge. Even with a full back pack I turned the cranks over with a smile. It might be the same old same old, but a fresh perspective is a welcome addition to my Mo Miles repertoire. I'm already thinking of what other routes I can reverse next week. Wish me luck.
